Tara, over at Thin Spiral Notebook, gave us the word emotion for our #100 Word Challenge this week. I do not know what it is, but her prompts have been dancing with my poetry muse lately. Here’s one more round of poetry for the challenge. Also, be sure to stop by and see how other great authors treated this prompt via the badge below or the link above!
A storm is brewing
Welling
Looming
Pressure
In my chest
Behind my eyes
The storm
Now a tempest
Threatens to break free
My containment
Cracks
Tears leak out
Tension
A pause
Did the boundaries hold
The tempest
Breaks loose
Raging
It grows
Wild
Out of control
Clashing
Moving
A living thing
Frightening
In its intensity
Ferocity
Darkness deepens
Strengthens
Consumes
Flashes of lightning
Illuminate my mind
Rugged landscape
Mountains of worry
Grow larger
Biting my soul
Valleys of inkiness
Cracking
Lacing my vista
Torn up trees
Birds hidden in branches
Cowering before the gale
Like a cloudburst
Energy drains
Spent
I like the imagery of emotions as a storm. Sometimes I feel like I’m in the middle of a maelstrom with no blue skies in sight.

Exactly. Emotions can be kind and gentle and sometimes they aren’t.
