Random Sunday

Shelves, Turtles, and Weekends

I am rather sore at the moment.  However, I am also feeling pretty darn proud of myself.  I had somewhat of a stupid layout for my laundry room shelves, in my opinion.  I mean, who in their right mind puts shelves up right where the laundry chute empties?  Anyway, I did the majority of the removal of the old shelves, measured for the new shelves, recycled many of the old parts, and installed most of the new shelves.  My hubby had to help a little because I was either not tall enough, or not big enough to use necessary tools appropriately.  The shelves are almost done and I am feeling good.  Sore, but good.

We rescued baby snapping turtles this weekend.  We were having our annual August birthday bash, as there are seven birthdays in eleven days during the month of August in my family.  My brother-in-law headed to the baseball field with my step-father-in-law and my nephew to play baseball.  My mother-in-law went with to watch and discovered a couple baby snapping turtles on the field.  My aunt, mom, sister, and I went over to check them out.  My brother and husband trailed behind.  Sure enough, there were four on the baseball field.  So we decided to relocate them closer to the creek in the park.  All totaled by the end of the afternoon, we relocated fourteen baby turtles.  I enjoyed it quite a bit.  I love turtles.

Weekends.  I think they should be three days long minimum as a standard weekend.  There is just never enough time to get everything done.  I know I could have used one more day working on things around here.  Plus, time for my writing.  I think I will lobby or something.   I know I would have a number of people on my side.  But, that would probably mean having to work longer days during the week.  Not sure if that would be worth the tradeoff.
