Poetry

Internal Dialogue

I think I’m getting myself back to a point where I can write in the 100 Word Challenge over at Thin Spiral Notebook again. I’ve missed this challenge. It’s fun to try and create poetry around the given word for the week in exactly 100 words. This week we had the word waiting. Here’s what I came up with (and be sure to check out other wonderful responses!):

Internal Dialogue

So many questionspeople-2605882_1280

swirling

flocking

looming

casting shadows

just waiting to strike

washing away

foundations

worms

burrowing through

to create an illusion

of strength

of wholeness

while underneath

all is rotten

falling apart

So many chances

time and time again

giving

waiting

hoping

will the seeds grow

to replace

the broken parts

push out the worms

and renew the whole

Watching

hands bound

heart held captive

as time

inches forward

a glacial pace

questions

creeping once more

crowding the seeds

A pressure grows

to bursting

a need

to reach out

to force

germination

but to do so

yields

no flowers
