Tabula Rasa

Tara over at Thin Spiral Notebook is at it again. This week she gave us the word Blank. Again, we have exactly 100 words, no more and no less, to respond with. After reading my entry, please be sure to stop by Thin Spiral Notebook to see what others did with this same prompt.

Tabula Rasa

I stare into the emptiness,
a perfect void.
All that was,
that will ever be,
lost
in the grey
of failing twilight.
So much slips away
until even tilting windmills
becomes a dream.

It consumes everything.
All you were, could ever be,
gone,
erased
like it never existed
except in my world alone.
For to me,
you were my life.

As I stare into the darkness
it pulls me in,
whispers of sweet release.
It tempts my soul.
No more burdens
or crippling pain
from wounds unseen.
Just follow you down
until all is gone
and the end
begins again.
