100 Word Challenge: Daylight

It’s been a while since I wrote for the 100 Word Challenge over at Thin Spiral Notebook. But, I really want to get back on track with it, since it’s such a fun and interesting challenge. This week Tara gave us the word daylight for our 100 words. Remember, we have exactly 100 words, no more no less, with which to respond. I give you:

Daylight

Both accursed and blessed
that bright between time.
A time of change, of renewing,
yet an end to the dreaming.
It reaches out with glowing fingersbarley-field-1684052_640.jpg
creeping along, invading all
with a glorious warmth
and a hint of promise,
while taking away
the darker dreams and
fantasies.
Erasing the silvery cold pinpoints
twinkling in the emptiness.
It ends the chance at
forbidden fantasies
that only come out once
the shadows have grown
so large to blanket the world.
But in that coming
of brilliance and shine
dwell another type
of hopes and dreams,
of new beginnings,
and pasts left behind.
