I know, I know. I promised Random Sunday yesterday. But here it’s Tuesday and I don’t have it yet. We’ll do Random Sunday on Wednesday. Promise. Astrophysics in Action
His vessel drifted near the event horizon of the supermassive black hole, just on the edge
of not being able to escape from the intense gravitational field. His telemetry indicated he might drift too close at any moment.
“That’s one thing astrophysics got right. We can get pretty damned close to the supermassives without getting pulled in.”
His voice sounded loud in the otherwise silent ship. The computers blinked away as they studied the activity at the event horizon. Then a different light came on.
“I guess we’ll find out what happens when a human being crosses the event horizon.”
